I'm making a web kiosk in Flash class. It is beyond amazing, I tell you. I'll post it somewhere when I'm done.
Anyway, what happened last week at work? I know you want to know. So I'll tell you!
Tuesday I went to get my paycheck, showed up, and Jeff and Ricardo ask if I'd gotten their message. I was like, "Lolwut? Message? Haha, nice one." And then I worked from 6-10. Now, I'm not saying I'm a shift-whore. No, that would involve me seeking out shifts. I prefer the term shift-pimp, as that implies that I let the shifts come to me. I also never say no. This metaphor's rapidly falling apart.
Wednesday I went with two friends to the dollar moves (I remember when they were a dollar, darn it! ONE FREAKING DOLLAR!) and saw Tooth Fairy. Dwayne Johnson, I love you. He is hilarious, I say. Hilarious. ^_^
Thursday I worked. Nothing really happened. At least, not that I can remember. ARGH! I remember! I got pulled over for my tags being expired! And I got a TICKET! The officer told me it wasn't a fix-it ticket, either. Moooooore on that below.
Friday, however, I went to a picnic after Jumma prayers, and had fun. Then I was hassled into going to Family Night, which is every Friday evening. So I went home, napped, and as I was driving to the masjid I got another phone call from work. Ricaaaaaaar~do, my darlingest manager besides Jeff, told me that I was going to cover a shift at another Restaurant of Awesome, a 10-6. So, I did, and I had a blast. The employees were awesome, the customers were awesome, I made mad awesome tips ... So I told the manager that if he ever needed me again, I'm free Sun-Thurs nights. :P I got a couple questions about my hijab, and these two drunk ladies reeeeeaaaaally wanted to see my hair as I was explaining things to them, so we went into the bathroom and they fondled my hair. But they were really nice and promised not to tell their guy friends about my hair. Also, there was a table who was never ever ready, so I finally told them that when they needed me, to start singing, and I'd sing and dance, too. Which is exactly what happened. They were so awesome. ^_^ A couple of tables stiffed me, but eh, what can you do? I still had a great time, and I'd work there again in a flash.
Saturday I went home after working, read some GTO manga, and then headed off to my Saturday class. It was fun. I'm way behind. Then I took my sister out to lunch, because it turns out my conversion kinda freaked her out and she's been thinking that I sold out and stuff ... So we had a girls' lunch. Then I napped, and headed off to work again. On Saturdays, we're supposed to have four (4) people on the floor. Four (4) servers, because it gets busy. Elise was in the hospital, sick. Antonio had a death in the family. So it was me, Gina-Bean, and Ricardo. Oh. My. GOD. It wasn't a terrible night, but we both worked through our breaks, and I had to stay until 6 because Elise usually stays. My feet hurt soooooooo much. Like, by the end of the night, I was hobbling around and sitting to take orders, which we're not supposed to do. I was in the back, Gina was in the middle (bless her --- no, really, bless her; she worked sooooo hard that night), and Ricardo was up front. We made it through, though, because we're freaking awesome like that. And Ammy was the 6am person, and I always like it when she relieves me, because she's a total sweetheart. :D
Sunday I went over to Victoria's house and roleplayed. It was awesome. I have a barbarian half-orc named Brittany. :P She's got a 12 Intelligence, but a 9 Charisma. I ended up not only beheading and delegging an evil wizard, but I chucked his torso at his pet raven and squished the raven into the torso. The shenanigans on Sunday were epic. I also slept through another picnic, but oh, well.
Monday I went to the DMV after class and paid my registration, got my car smogged, got a new, hijabified license and renewed it ... and got told that no, in fact, my ticket wasn't a non-fix-it ticket, it should have been a fix-it ticket, the officer from Thursday was wrong, and that I needed to go to the po-po house and let them know. Politely. Because getting a ticket for being an ass is not a good thing. So I'll do that today, once my homework's all finished for my Flash class. My car also turned off as I was waiting to turn into the DMV parking lot, which was freaky, but it turns out my sensor thingy that lets my engine know how much gas to get was loose, so my roommate fixed it, 'cause he's awesome. Then I bought halal chicken and made halal jell-o, and we ate it, and it was good. :D
My Flash project is astounding, by the way. Simply brilliant. :P
Welcome to my blog!
This blog is an honest look at what life is like for this particular American convert to Islam. We're taught in Islam to cover our sins, to not air them, for fear of lessening the severity of sinning. In this blog, I may relate past indiscretions from time to time. This isn't to make light of them, but in the interest of educating Muslims and non-Muslims alike as to the realities of life as an American convert, I present my mistakes honestly. I make no excuses for them, nor do I claim that they were okay to make. I am not perfect, and I make no pretenses as to that. If others can learn from my past, know that Islam, and religion in general, is open for people no matter what mistakes they've made, then I will gladly air my sins when needed.

makes me want to see a Restaurant of Aweomeness musical
ReplyDelete@ Kimberly Lol, omg, that'd be sooooo epic. I keep saying that we need rollerskates, like in the 50's, you know? And we can sing the menu ... I'm going to propose this plan on Thursday. ^_^
